The district of Riva was a political district in the Fürsteten Grafschaft Tirol . The district included areas around Lake Garda and the Val di Ledro and its side valley, the Val di Concei . The seat of the district administration was the municipality of Riva . The area was added to Italy after the First World War .

The modern, political districts of the Habsburg Monarchy were created around 1868 in the course of the separation of the political from the judicial administration.

The district of Riva was formed in 1868 from the judicial districts of Riva and Arco . The Riva district was home to 22,602 people in 1869, with the district being home to 4,000 houses and covering 6.08 square miles.

In 1871 the re-establishment of the Val di Ledro judicial district was determined, which resulted in three judicial districts in the Riva district. The establishment of the judicial district of Val di Ledro took effect on March 24, 1872.

The district of Riva covered an area of ​​353.33 km² in 1910 and housed a population of 30,633 people, of which 26,296 had Italian or Ladin , 1,643 German and 2,694 indicated another language as a colloquial language or were foreigners. The district consisted of three judicial districts with 24 parishes.

Due to the border regulations of the Treaty of Saint-Germain on September 10, 1919 , the district of Riva was completely slammed into Italy.
