Gunther Scholz

Gunther Scholz (born October 9, 1944 in Görlitz ) is a German director and screenwriter .

Life

After graduating from high school and completing an apprenticeship as typesetter , Scholz began studying theater studies before he was drafted into the NVA . He then attended the Babelsberg Film School and obtained his directing diploma in 1971.

Since then, Gunther Scholz has been a freelance director in film, television and at various theaters in the GDR . In 1973 he became assistant director at DEFA , from 1978 to 1991 Scholz was a director in the DEFA studio for feature films . Since the fall of the GDR, he has worked as a freelance writer and director in television games and series, but mostly in the documentary film sector. He lives in Berlin .
