Death in Miami is a 1994 thriller by director Carlo Rola . Iris Berben and Peter Sattmann play the leading roles in the Berlin couple Michael and Susanne Evers, who want to fulfill a dream vacation in Florida .

Michael and Susanne, a married couple from Berlin , are fed up with life in the big city. You want to fulfill a long-cherished wish for a dream vacation in Florida and are making your first plans. With their friends, Kai and Vera Vogt, they want to realize their dream of vacation together.
Shortly after arrival, the dream turns into a nightmare when Kai and Vera fall victim to muggers on the way from the airport to the hotel. Her husband Michael dies in a hail of bullets during a shootout. Susanne immediately decides to return to Germany. There the nightmare continues when she learns that Michael cheated on her with her best friend . She also learns that Michael was deeply in debt and that his shipping company was on the verge of bankruptcy .

Others
The film is set against the background that tourists in the United States are often victims of robberies. The production company was well aware that they would not get a filming permit from the local authorities without further ado, in view of this background, and changed the film title at short notice to "Leben ohne Dich". With this film title an application was made to want to shoot a harmless love story in Florida. This project was approved by the authorities.
