Christian Goerlitz

Christian Görlitz (* 1944 in Hamburg as Helmut Christian Görlitz) is a German film director and screenwriter .

Life

Görlitz studied psychology and philosophy in Hamburg and literature at the University of Pennsylvania in the USA . For the film The Knife in the Back (1975), he took on the assistant director role alongside director Ottokar Runze . For the movie Das Ende vom Anfang (1984) he was responsible for the first time as a screenwriter (based on the novel Treibjagd by Michael Holzner) and at the same time as a director.

In the following years of his career, Görlitz worked mainly for television . Here he worked in a wide variety of genres , such as B. in the TV thriller The Deal (1991; written and directed), the children's series Der kleine Vampir (1993; directed) or the psychological drama Freier Fall (1997; written and directed). In 2008 Görlitz shot the tragic comedy Meat is My Vegetables (script and direction), another movie based on the autobiographical novel of the same name by Heinz Strunk . His TV drama Seven Hours was described as "masterful" by Spiegel Online and was nominated for the Grimme Prize in 2019 .
