The Bride in the Snow is a German TV film from 2012 and the 1st episode in the series Kommissar Marthaler . The crime film broadcast on ZDF is based on the novel of the same name from the Marthaler crime series by Jan Seghers . The director was Lancelot von Naso , who wrote the script together with Kai-Uwe Hasenheit and Christian Görlitz . The main roles are occupied by Matthias Koeberlin and Bernadette Heerwagen .

action

Commissioner Robert Marthaler is called to a murder case. A dentist was raped and then killed. The police officers Toller and Steinwachs were the first to arrive at the scene. Toller is assigned to Marthaler's team as reinforcement. It is clear to him and his other colleagues Petersen, Döring and Henschel that the perpetrator must be a sadistic serial killer who will kill again. In fact, there are more murders. Since the team did not find a hot lead despite intensive investigative work, the police officer Kerstin Henschel played the decoy for the perpetrator and thus fell into the clutches of the murderer. Marthaler now suspects his new colleague Toller, who is found dead a little later. Now Steinwachs is the main suspect, who can also be caught in the following mission and later confesses. Kerstin Henschel is released unharmed.

criticism

"Not a crime thriller in the classical sense, but a (television) police film with a melancholy visual foundation that focuses on atmosphere and moods and captivates with its sophisticated aesthetics."

“Koeberlin impresses with his facial expressions. [...] The Frankfurt local color that also defines Segher's crime novels is implemented in unusual images of the banking city. "

“Too much private stuff, a half-hearted resolution - nevertheless, the dark crime thriller is breathlessly exciting in parts. Greetings from Edgar Wallace! Conclusion: a hearty ripper, trimmed for thrill "

“After his multiple award-winning drama“ Armistice ”, director Lancelot von Naso dives into the banking metropolis of Frankfurt in this thrilling crime thriller. Fortunately, in his directorial work he places less value on voyeuristic coroners, but rather shows the difficult and often grueling police work. Von Naso, who wrote the script together with Helmut Christian Görlitz […] and Kai-Uwe Hasenheit […], filmed the novel of the same name by the Frankfurt-based writer, critic and essayist Jan Seghers (alias Matthias Altenburg) with well-humored actors. . "

background

The film is set in Frankfurt am Main and was shot there and in Berlin . The shooting took place in 2011. After the successful first broadcast on ZDF on February 27, 2012, it was announced that a sequel was being worked on. Filming for this began at the end of October 2012.

The journalist Matthias Altenburg , who publishes detective novels under his pseudonym Jan Seghers based on the model of Scandinavian authors, had imagined "his commissioner Marthaler" to be a bit older and thicker than the presentation by Matthias Koeberlin now shows him. As he announced to the dpa . “A bit like 'Tatort Inspector' Axel Prahl, maybe.” Altenburg states, however, that “the entire first crime film adaptation [was] successful. [It] turned out to be a very unusually beautiful film. "

Sequels

In the following years four more films from the Marthaler series were released:
