Reviews

"First cinema appearance by a cabaret artist who is less about satirical criticism of the grievances and more about positive values: a socially romantic fairy tale with a wink of humor."

“The film takes a lot of time to unroll this rather simple plot with its numerous protagonists, so much that the content is neglected in relation to the packaging. Hardly anyone today is unfamiliar with the denounced locust mentality and unfortunately there is a lack of more precise satire or biting dialogues. What remains is the appealing and unrealistic idea of taking the world of stocks to the absurd with its own means and some stereotypical critique in the form of a sedate family comedy. "

- Berliner Morgenpost dated December 13, 2007

“Barwasser stands out - not only from the 'comedian colleagues', but also from many cabaret artists who recently also like to act apolitical. And his film also stands out: It is not a cabaret film in the typical sense, not a number revue with Barwasser and stage colleagues, but a feature film with actors (wonderful: Christiane Paul and Peter Lohmeyer) and a calm narrative tone. [...] Frank-Markus Barwasser's first film: A social satire in which Erwin Pelzig confronts capitalism. "

“In times of globalization, high unemployment and increasing efficiency, the film dares the balancing act of socio-political seriousness and entertaining comedy, which puts the finger exactly into the wounds that are often kept covered in the rest of the cinema landscape. In times of increasing depoliticization in the entertainment sector, 'the front is damned far away' is a refreshing exception. Despite the satirical exaggeration, the film is closer to reality than one would sometimes assume. [...] This tragic-comic social satire is very entertaining, especially for those of the audience who are further back. "
