Markus Fischer (director)

Markus Fischer (born July 29, 1953 in Zurich ) is a Swiss director , film producer , composer and screenwriter .

Life

Fischer completed his first training in the graphic industry. He appeared as a composer, musician and singer in the field of pop and rock. From 1975 he made trips to Central America and the USA. Fischer then worked as an assistant in the areas of direction, camera, editing and sound in various feature film productions. Since 1978 Fischer has worked as a producer, co-producer, screenwriter, director and sometimes as a film music composer. Works as a lecturer at the ZHdK Zurich (film course) and HKB (Bern University of the Arts, Drama Department). Lives in Zurich and Berlin.

In 1985 Boa Filmproduktion AG was founded. In 2005 he founded Snakefilm GmbH, based in Zurich, which is active in the areas of feature films, television plays and co-productions with Germany. Fischer is a member of SFP, the Swiss Film Producers 'Association and Swiss Directors' Association (ARF) and a member of the Swiss Film Academy.

One of Fischer's most successful productions is the SRF crime series "Hunkeler", based on the novels by Hansjörg Schneider, as well as 7 seasons of the successful SFR series "Der Bestatter" with Mike Müller in the title role. The series was one of the first Swiss productions that Netflix took over. Two award-winning dance films are also part of his work. In the cinema sector, Fischer staged, among other things. "Room 36" (with Anne Marie Blanc), "Brandnacht" (with Bruno Ganz) or "Marmorera" (with Anatole Taubman). He is currently preparing a new cinema version "The Black Spider" (based on Jeremias Gotthelf).
