Digital art

Your book "Digital Art" influenced the international specialist discussion on new media and digital art. One of the author's assumptions is that a distinction can be made between computer-generated art and media-oriented digital art. While computer-generated art continues the well-known art genres digitally, media-oriented digital art develops the new possibilities of digital media into new art directions.

The author does not deny that digital continuations, for example of painting or photo art as digital painting or as artistic photo manipulation , provide artistically valuable results. However, the possibilities of digital new media will only be exhausted when artists use them as independent media. New art movements such as Net Art , Web Art and Software Art (see digital art ) are not to be understood as a mere continuation of pre-digital art movements.
