Martin Eigler (director)

Martin Eigler (* 1964 in Cologne ) is a German director and screenwriter .

Life

Martin Eigler is originally from Essen and studied German , theater studies and philosophy at the Free University of Berlin from 1985 to 1991 . During this time he realized no-budget film projects. From 1992 to 2000 he studied directing at the German Film and Television Academy in Berlin . In order to finance his directing studies, he also worked as a freelance TV writer for RTL-Regional NRW, arte, SFB and ORB. Since 1993 he has directed several short films, with his half-hour "Five Minutes Icarus" causing quite a stir at festivals. In 1999 he realized his dffb graduation film Friends - No Bock on Bulls on behalf of ZDF , which was shown in German cinemas in spring 2001.

Eigler is a member of plotpower , a group of screenwriters and directors. Among other things, he wrote and developed the series Solo for Schwarz and Stralsund with Sven S. Poser , which he then directed as a director. He also made several television films for ZDF and the Tatort series .
