The villages of Döhren, Fesenfeld, Graefinghausen, Högenhausen, Kätingen, Kastendiek, Pestinghausen , Steinforth, Stütelberg and Stühren belong to Nordwohlde . Together with these localities, Nordwohlde lies on both sides of the B 51 .

Neighboring municipalities of the formerly independent municipality of Nordwohlde are in the north the municipality part of Fahrenhorst of the neighboring municipality of Stuhr in Bassum and in the northeast the Syker district of Ristedt (with Sörhausen).

Rivers / streams

The main town is traversed by the Hombach . The Klosterbach , which runs further to the west, is in the northern area Grenzbach to the district of Oldenburg . The Finkenbach , which rises east of Bassum, is about ten kilometers long. It flows through Bramstedt , takes on the Bramstedter Beeke and flows south of the core town of Nordwohlde into the Hombach.

history

The barrows in the Hülsenberg forest area suggest an early settlement. The oldest parts of the Evangelical Lutheran Church date from the early 13th century and are visible for at least 800 years of local history.

On March 1, 1974, the previously independent municipality of Nordwohlde was incorporated into the city of Bassum.

The children from Nordwohlde and the surrounding area can first attend the Evangelical Kindergarten and then the elementary school in Nordwohlde.

The Nordwohlde elementary school has existed since 1977 and celebrated its 40th birthday on May 12, 2017. Children can attend grades one to four here.

The core town of Nordwohlde is to the east of federal highway 51 . It is connected to it via state road  340, which comes from Syke and divides the place.

The Turnverein Einigkeit Nordwohlde eV has existed in Nordwohlde since 1911. V. from 1911. This has about 470 members. Sports facilities

Nordwohlde has a sports field with two playgrounds which, thanks to floodlights, can also be used in the dark. In addition, a new multi-purpose sports hall was built in 2017. After two construction phases, there are two photovoltaic systems with a total output of 60 kilowatts (30 kilowatts per system) on the roof of the hall.

Attractions

• Nordwohlde houses a total of five architectural monuments ( see list of architectural monuments in Bassum )
• The Evangelical Lutheran Church is a Romanesque hall church with a western tower. The western parts of the church made of field stones date from the early 13th century, the eastern part, made of bricks, with high arched windows from the end of the 13th century. Inside the church there is the pulpit with evangelist relief from the middle of the 17th century.

• The forest area "Hülsenberg" is located north of the Nordwohlder town center. It has a high recreational value . When cyclone quimburga in 1972 large parts of the forest have been destroyed, but since then reforested. The wild-growing orchid Broad-leaved Stendelwurz ( Epipactis helleborine ) blooms in large numbers in this forest area every year from mid-July to mid-August .

• In the Nordwohlder school there is - as "art in public space" - a mural by the Schweringen artist Gottlieb Pot d'Or , which probably dates from the 1960s.

Nordwohlder districts

Pestinghausen has around 125 inhabitants, is located between Nordwohlde and Syke and is about 1.5 kilometers away from both places. The Nordwohlder district lies on both sides of the state road  340, which runs from Nordwohlde to Syke in a west-east direction . The Riengraben flows south through the village, crosses under the L 340 west of the core village and flows into the Finkenbach at Högenhausen. The Westermark forest area east of Pestinghausen is a popular destination for many hikers and nature lovers. Every year from mid-July to mid-August, the wild-growing orchid broad-leaved stendola (Epipactis helleborine) blooms in considerable numbers in the Westermark.
