history
Schorlingborstel certainly got its name from the Vollmeierhof Schorling. This is derived from Schorling for the "Scherling" ( sheep shearer ) and Borstel for the Low German form of Bauernstelle, as "Buernsteer". The district of Ebersheide was first mentioned in 890. Kolloge is mentioned in documents in 1221 and Lowe in 1260. In 1737 a school was set up in Schorlingborstel, in which 18–20 children were taught until 1873. Then the children went to the new and larger school in Eschenhausen. In the past, Schorlingborstel belonged to the county of Hoya, later to the Freudenberg office , then was an independent municipality in the Syke district and from 1932 in the Hoya county. Since the regional reform , which came into force on March 1, 1974, Schorlingborstel has been one of 16 localities in the unified municipality of Bassum in the Diepholz district.

During the local reform in 1974, the last local council of Schorlingborstel was dissolved. Since then, the town's fate has been directed by the town council of Bassum . The interests of the locality towards the city authorities are represented by the local mayor. From 1974 to 1996 this was Johann Schulenberg, who was also the last mayor of the community.
