Hallstedt is located in the south-east of the city of Bassum, six kilometers south-east of the core town of Bassum. The village of Hallstedt consists only of Hallstedt.

West 1.5 kilometers away lies the approximately 261 hectare large nature reserve " Hachetal and Freidorfer Hachetal ", which extends to Syke.
