The Hachetal and Freidorfer Hachetal is a nature reserve in the Lower Saxon cities of Syke and Bassum and the municipality of Sudwalde in the combined municipality of Schwaförden in the Diepholz district .
The nature reserve with the registration number NSG HA 248 is 261.8 hectares . The largest part of the nature reserve is also designated as a 248.33 hectare FFH area "Hachetal". The area between Syke and Neubruchhausen often borders on the landscape protection areas "Hachetal I" and "Hachetal II" and south of Neubruchhausen in places on the landscape protection area "Freidorf" and south of it on the landscape protection area "Papenhuser Sunder and Wiethoop". The area has been under nature protection since November 2, 2018. The previous nature reserves “ Hachetal ” and “ Freidorfer Hachetal ” as well as parts of the adjacent landscape protection areas were merged into the nature reserve . The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Diepholz.
The nature reserve is located in Syke and south of the city in the east of the Wildeshauser Geest Nature Park . It extends along the Hache valley a little below the crossing of the Hache through the state road 333 in Syke to the crossing of the Hache in the south of the Papenhuser Sunder south of Neubruchhausen. In addition to the valley area of the Hache with its lowland, the nature reserve includes adjacent Geest slopes as well as some side valleys with the lower reaches of the streams flowing into the Hache. In the valley areas of the Hache and the tributaries, predominantly damp to wet alluvial and swamp forests with ash and alder as the dominant tree species grow. In between there are meadows and pastures . On fallow land, swamps with tall herbaceous vegetation , vineyards and reed beds develop , in which birch and quivering poplar populations grow as a result of the succession . In the lowland areas settle u. a. Marsh marigold , water groundsel , Bogbean , Walzensegge , Carex echinata , Thelypteris palustris and laurel willow . The Hache has been straightened in places. It has a sandy river bed and flooding water vegetation.
Beech and oak forests grow along the slopes, with common beech and English oak as the dominant tree species. This is joined by u. a. the white elm . In the nature reserve, spruce , larch and hybrid poplar trees that are not part of the site can be found in small areas .
The Hache is the habitat of the brook lamprey . Still waters in the nature reserve accommodate the crested newt . The nature reserve is the habitat of various bats .
