The crested newt biotope near Bassum is a nature reserve in the Lower Saxony town of Bassum in the Diepholz district .
The nature reserve with the sign NSG HA 232 is approximately 5.1 hectares . It has been under protection since December 23, 2015. The 4.54 hectare FFH area of the same name is part of the nature reserve. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Diepholz.
The nature reserve is about 1.5 km west of Bassum in the Wildeshauser Geest Nature Park . It consists of a small moor with several Schlatts lying in a depression . Trees grow in the depression. An extensively cultivated grassland area follows to the west and northwest .
The nature reserve is a habitat for crested newt and tree frog as well as other amphibian species .
To the northeast, the nature reserve, which is otherwise surrounded by agricultural land , borders on state road 776.
