The Sprekelsmeer is a former nature reserve in the Lower Saxon community of Freistatt in the integrated community of Kirchdorf in the district of Diepholz .
The nature reserve with the registration NSG HA 157 was 4.5 hectares . It was part of the FFH area “Wietingsmoor” and the EU bird sanctuary “ Diepholzer Moorniederung ”. In the south, bordering on the former nature reserve " Freistätter Moor ", in the northwest to the conservation area "Sprekelsmeer". The area has been under nature protection since June 25, 1992. As of November 2, 2018, the newly designated nature reserve " Northern and Middle Wietingsmoor, Freistätter Moor and Sprekelsmeer " opened up. The responsible lower nature conservation authority was the district of Diepholz.
The former nature reserve in Wietingsmoor consists of the eponymous Sprekelsmeer, a Schlatt with small islands, and the surrounding shore area. Floating leaf plants can be found in the nutrient-poor standing water . In the siltation zones there is peat moss - cotton grass - swinging lawn , in the bank area Seggenriede , which is followed by woody plants.
