The Rehdener Geestmoor regeneration area is a former nature reserve in the Lower Saxony municipalities of Rehden and Hemsloh in the joint municipality of Rehden in the district of Diepholz .
The nature reserve with the registration number NSG HA 089 was 591 hectares in size. It was almost completely part of the FFH area “Rehdener Geestmoor” and the EU bird sanctuary “Diepholzer Moorniederung”. The area has been under nature protection since December 12, 1985. On November 2, 2018, it was merged with the Rehdener Geestmoor . The responsible lower nature conservation authority was the district of Diepholz.
The bog area located south of Rehden and northwest of Wagenfeld in Diepholzer Moorniederung . It was completely enclosed by the “Rehdener Geestmoor” nature reserve. To the northeast of the moor lies the Kellenberg ridge . Almost all of the moorland has been pelted industrially . At the time it was placed under protection, peat was still being extracted. After the peat extraction had ended, the moor was completely prepared for renaturation and the areas rewetted , which means that flora and fauna typical of the moor have settled again.
The moorland is drained via ditches to the Wagenfelder Aue and the Rhien and the Graft (Bruchkanal) and thus finally into the Hunte .
