The Oldsmobile Model S was a passenger car manufactured by Oldsmobile in the 1906 model year . It was the largest vehicle in the range and was touted by Oldsmobile as "the best thing on wheels".
The car was equipped with the new four-cylinder engine, which drew an output of 26 to 28 bhp (19-21 kW) from a displacement of 4417 cm³. The engine power was transmitted to the rear wheels via a three-speed gearbox with a gear lever on the outside right and a drive chain. The brake pedal worked on the drum brakes on the rear wheels. There was also a transmission brake. The clutch could be disconnected with a pedal or with the handbrake lever.
In addition to a 2-seater “Gentleman's Roadster”, there was a similar model with a mother-in-law seat and a 4-5-seater “Palace Touring”. the wheelbase was a uniform 2,692 mm with the wheels of the roadster being larger. All three versions cost US $ 2,250 each.
With around 1,400 units, the large car was by far the most successful model this year. In 1907 it was replaced by the A and H models .
