The Oldsmobile Touring Runabout , or more rarely the Oldsmobile Model N , was a 2-seater passenger car that was manufactured from 1904 to 1905 by the Olds Motor Works in Lansing ( Michigan ). It was a little larger, but the same motorized as the model 6C, which was produced at the same time, and a little smaller than the Oldsmobile Light Tonneau .
In contrast to the Curved Dash , both the Touring Runabout and the Light Tonneau had a stem in the form of a "hood" with a honeycomb radiator that was accessible from above and was used to store the gasoline and water tanks and the battery. The chassis was made of angle steel and was steered with a steering wheel.
There was space for two people in the individual seats. The horizontally installed in the rear single-cylinder four-cycle engine had a displacement of 1,931 cc and developed 7 hp (5.1 kW) at 600 min -1 . The engine power was transmitted to the rear wheels via a two-speed planetary gearbox with reverse gear and a single drive chain. The gearshift lever was attached to the far right. The brake pedal worked on the drum brakes on the rear wheels.
The list price was US $ 750, - or US $ 100, - less than was requested in 1904 for the Light Tonneau without a tonneau attachment . Like this one, the Touring Runabout was also available in either dark red or dark green. Side brass oil lamps were part of the basic equipment.
In 1906 the model was discontinued without replacement.
