The Oldsmobile Model Z was a passenger car manufactured by Oldsmobile from 1908 to 1909 . It was the brand's first six-cylinder model and at the same time the top model in these two years.
When it appeared in 1908, the vehicle had a water-cooled inline six-cylinder four-stroke engine installed in the front, which achieved an output of 48 bhp (35 kW) with a displacement of 7423 cm³. A year later the bore of the engine was enlarged by ¼ ″, which led to a displacement of 8275 cm³. The power was 60 bhp (44 kW).
As with the smaller models, the engine power was passed on to the rear wheels via a three-speed gearbox with a gear lever on the outside right and a cardan shaft. The brake pedal worked on the cardan shaft, the handbrake lever on the drum brakes on the rear wheels. In 1908 the Z model was delivered as a 4-door touring car, and in 1909 as a 2-door special roadster. Acetylene lights , oil lamps and luggage racks were standard. With a retail price of US $ 4,200 rep. 4,000 the following year, the Model Z competed in the luxury segment.
In 1908 only 50 Type Z vehicles were produced, in 1909 there were 150 of them. The following year the Limited replaced the Model Z, initially with the same engine.
