The Oldsmobile Autocrat Series 28 was a mid- size passenger car released by Oldsmobile , a General Motors brand , in 1911 . The Autocrat was the middle model of the brand and technically (with the exception of the engine) it was based on the top model Limited .
The cars had a side-controlled four-cylinder in-line engine with a displacement of 7718 cm³, which delivered an output of 40 bhp (29 kW), which was passed on to the rear wheels via a leather cone clutch, a four-speed gearbox with a gearshift lever on the right outside and a cardan shaft. All four wheels were provided with wooden spokes and the rear wheels were braked mechanically with drums and outer bands.
The cars were available as 4-door touring cars or sedans, or as 2-door roadsters.
In 1912, the vehicles continued to be produced as the 32 series without major changes . Only the wheelbase increased by 2 ".
In 1911 1000 vehicles were built together with the smaller model Special , in 1912 there were 500 of the Autocrat alone. In the following year, the model was discontinued without replacement.
