The Oldsmobile Intrigue was a mid-size model of the US subsidiary of General Motors, which was manufactured from the summer of 1997 to the end of 2002 and was only intended for the North American market.
Its design trains come from the Oldsmobile study Antares from 1995. Furthermore, similar design trains were also found in the Oldsmobile Alero (in Europe Chevrolet Alero ) and the Oldsmobile Aurora .
idea
With this model, Oldsmobile wanted to compete more strongly against its Japanese competitors such as Toyota Camry , Honda Accord or Nissan Altima . Other GM types were also made based on the Intrigue such as the Buick Century , Buick Regal , Chevrolet Impala , Chevrolet Monte Carlo and the Pontiac Grand Prix .
Executions
There were three versions of the Oldsmobile Intrigue:
- GX (basic version)
- GL (better equipment than the GX)
- GLS (full equipment)
Engines
From summer 1997 to autumn 1999 a 3.8 l V6 engine (internal designation OHV L36 ) was integrated, which made 195 hp. This unit was available in various GM models such as B. in the Holden Commodore or in the Pontiac Firebird .
From the end of 1999 to the end of 2002 a 3.5 l V6 engine newly developed by Cadillac was used (internal designation DOHC LX5 ). This was based on the GM Northstar V8 and developed 215 hp and was also used in the Oldsmobile Aurora .
