The Oldsmobile Series 20 was a passenger car manufactured in model year 1909 by Oldsmobile , a GM company since 1908 . The new, small model was introduced at the instigation of GM as the emaciated derivative of a contemporary Buick .
The small car had a side-controlled four-cylinder in-line engine with a capacity of 2,704 cm³, which delivered an output of 22 bhp (16 kW).
As with the larger models, the engine power was transmitted to the rear wheels via a three-speed gearbox with a gearshift lever on the far right and a cardan shaft. The brake pedal worked on the cardan shaft, the handbrake lever on the drum brakes on the rear wheels. The Oldsmobile 20 was only supplied as a 4-door touring car. Acetylene lights , oil lamps and luggage racks were standard.
Of a total of 6,575 vehicles that Oldsmobile produced in 1909, 5,325 were from the 20 series. Nevertheless, this volume model disappeared the following year without replacement.
