Leopold Puellacher

Leopold Puellacher (born November 3, 1776 in Telfs , † November 2, 1842 ibid) was an Austrian painter of the classicist style.

Life

His father Josef Anton Puellacher was already active as a church painter. He worked from around 1786 to 1787 in the Swiss region of St. Gallen ( Hagenwil Castle ). Leopold Josef Puellacher was trained in painting by his father at a young age before he started his apprenticeship with Anton Hitzentaler and Johann Georg Kapeller in Linz .

In 1804 Puellacher returned to his native Telfs after stays in Vienna and Hungary . He became court and theater painter in Innsbruck in 1815 and created a number of frescoes and oil paintings in the classicist style, mainly for the North Tyrolean Oberland.
