Josef Anton Puellacher
Josef Anton Puellacher (born April 6, 1737 in Telfs , Tyrol; † May 29, 1799 there ) was an Austrian painter .
Life
Puellacher came from a farming family. In Reichenhall he received drawing lessons from an Italian painter who had settled in Tyrol. When he came to Salzburg, he became a student of Franz Nikolaus Streicher. To avoid being drafted for military service, he returned to his homeland. Among other things, he made frescoes in churches and public buildings. He was partially supported by his assistant Joseph Schöpf . He created some works in Switzerland, such as the wall paintings in the former prince's hall in St. Gallen or some altar leaves in the church of Niederplatt. He had two sons, one of whom Leopold Puellacher also became a painter under the guidance of his father.
