Christian Steyer

Christian Steyer (born December 6, 1946 in Falkenstein , Vogtland , Saxony ) is a German actor , voice actor , musician , film composer and choir director of the Berlin Soloist Choir .

Life

The son of a pastor grew up in Meissen and near Grimma . As a child he played the piano and organ and received music lessons from his father, and he sang in the Meissen Cathedral Choir. At the age of thirteen he joined the children's remedial class at the Leipzig University of Music .

From 1965 to 1970 he studied music with the major piano in Leipzig and Dresden with Amadeus Webersinke ; from 1970 to 1972 he studied at the State Drama School in Berlin, which he completed with the stage entrance examination. From 1972 he worked as a freelance actor, singer, pianist and composer. From 1973 to 1978 he was keyboard player and organizational head of the group ETC., which worked both as a studio and live band for Frank Schöbel . After that he devoted himself only to acting and composing film music.

He played his first film role in It's an Old Story in 1972 ; In 1973 he appeared in The Legend of Paul and Paula . In 1974 Steyer composed his first film music for the children's film Der Untergang der Emma ; since then he has created numerous compositions for film, television and theater.

Even after German reunification, Steyer remained successful as an actor and as a film and television composer. Since 1993 he has been a lecturer for presentation, drama and speech training - initially at the “Hanns Eisler” University of Music in Berlin , and since 2005 at the Berlin Jazz Institute .

In 1999, Steyer founded the StudentenJazzChor in Berlin , which he directs and since then has regularly performed the old Christmas carol cycle developed by Steyer . In 2010 the first all-German tour followed - now as a Berlin soloist choir . At the end of 2019, Steyer and his team celebrated the 20th anniversary of the choir after more than 150 concerts and the release of a live double CD.

Since 2003 he has been the off-speaker for the documentary soap Elefant, Tiger & Co. on Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk . For his music for the children's and youth film Die duds , he was awarded the Golden Spatzenfuß for the best film music at the Goldener Spatz Festival in 2005 .
