The Kings of Timber Production is a German comedy film by Matthias Keilich from 2006 with Bjarne Mädel , Frank Auerbach and Steven Merting .

action

After many years, Krischan is returning to his hometown Tanne in the Harz Mountains , which he left after a bankruptcy in the catering sector, while his unemployed former colleagues have to pay off the debts. He wants to organize a big lumberjack competition there. With a lot of effort he pulls the village out of its lethargy.

background

The film was shot in Tanne in the East Harz. The world premiere took place on June 9, 2006 at the Emden-Norderney International Film Festival and on August 24, 2006 the German theatrical release.

reception

According to Rainer Tittelbach from tittelbach.tv, the comedy is characterized by “wit, parable realism” and a wonderful ensemble of types.

The editorial staff of the television magazine Prisma awarded three out of five stars. She praised the “wit” and the “irony” with which the director shot the film and the convincing play of the main actor Bjarne Mädel, but criticized the fact that the film only achieved television standards.

Josef Engels, the reviewer of welt.de , compared the film with the English-language films Full Monty - All or nothing or Brassed Off - With timpani and trumpets that would have served as inspiration.

In the review in the news magazine Der Spiegel , the film comedy is classified as a “funny, true-to-life, all-round delightful film” and praised as “fresh and beguiling”.

Rainer Gansera from the Süddeutsche Zeitung , on the other hand, could "gain little" from the comedy.
