Steven Merting

Steven Merting (born November 4, 1970 in Gotha ) is a German actor and voice actor .

Life

Growing up in Gotha, Steven Merting first attended the Polytechnic High School , then the Extended High School . In 1989 he passed his Abitur at the Arnoldischule in his hometown. Supported, mainly by the German teachers, his desire for the theater was increasingly shaped , and so he became a member of a workers' theater , which corresponds in the broadest sense to today's off-scene . After a year and a half he resigned because he only got one role. A year later he became a member of a youth theater group.

At the same time he designed the student theater, naturally with the participation of the teachers and students, quite intensively. In four different plays he was not only active as a performer , but also as a captain . He passed the entrance examination for drama studies at the theater school "Hans Otto" in Leipzig, but had to do his basic military service in the National People's Army after graduating from high school .

After six months, thanks to new legislation, he was able to leave active service and complete the remaining period of service as a community service provider in a nursing home in his hometown. After four semesters of studying acting at the Hans Otto School in Leipzig, he continued his studies at the studio stage of the German National Theater in Weimar. At the beginning of the final year of study he was accepted into the theater's acting ensemble. In four years he played roles such as Pylades in Iphigenia on Tauris , Demetrius in Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream , Truffaldino in King Deer or Amadeus and Mr. Hans in Ionesco's The Rhinos .

Steven Merting then moved to Berlin and began working as a freelancer, including television. His first film role before studying acting in Green Wedding of Herrmann Zschoche .

Merting became known as Tom Borkmann in the Sat.1 crime series Wolffs Revier , which he played from 1999 to the last episode on May 24, 2006.
