action

At the beginning of the film, Conan pursues a security guard on a house roof. The guard turns out to be a disguised Kaitō Kid and a fight begins, in the course of which Conan falls from the roof.

A few days earlier, the successful actress Juri came to the Mōri detective agency. She had received a letter in which the Kaitō Kid announced that she would steal her sapphire, which she wears at every performance. Kogorō reads from the letter written in a riddle that Kaitō Kid wants to strike at the performance. Kogorō visits the Sora Theater with Conan, Ran, Professor Agasa, Sonoko and the Detective Boys, where he hides on stage with Inspector Megure. Suddenly, Kaitō Kid appears disguised as Shin'ichi and is followed by Conan. This is followed by the scene on the roof in which Conan falls, but is saved by the Kaitō Kid. On a train, Conan pursues Kid, but he manages to escape.

Thanks to the fact that the theft was prevented, Juri invites Kogorō and everyone else to accompany her to her holiday home in Hakodate . At Haneda Airport they meet the director, Juri's assistant Natsuki, the actor Shinjo (who should actually be in Hakodate) and Kogorō's ex-wife Eri, who was lured by Ran on the trip under a false pretext. Together they board a Boeing 747-400 of "Sky Japan" to take the flight in Business Class . Shortly after the start, Juri has physical contact with several people, one of whom gives her potassium cyanide. Yuri dies in agony.

Despite some difficulties, Conan manages to reveal Natsuki as the murderer. She wanted to quit in order to become self-employed. Juri prevents this several times in order to keep her as a small, simple assistant. While everyone is processing the shock, Conan recalls that Juri also had contact with the pilots. At that moment, both pilots also collapse from contact with the poison. The plane falls into a dive that Conan can intercept. Shinjo offers to land the aircraft on the autopilot because he has flight experience. Conan is supposed to assist him in the cockpit and has the upper deck cleared. Conan realizes that it is the Kaitō Kid and that the real Shinjo disguised as the Kaitō Kid should cause a surprise in Hakodate. This now has to flee from the police, because they think he is a kid. Kid also explains that he has lost interest in the sapphire because he found out through a kiss that it was only made of plastic. The only reason he's keeping Conan in the cockpit is because he knows he's really 17.

Both manage to steer the plane to Hakodate to the airport . Shortly before touchdown, however, the aircraft is struck by lightning, which disables the autopilot. The out-of-control aircraft can be intercepted by Kid at the last moment, but rams the tower, with an engine being torn off and a major fire on the airfield and the runway. The radio fails and the machine loses fuel due to the missing engine. Conan notices that the crossfeed valve has opened, causing a lot of fuel to leak. Without radio and with fuel for only ten minutes, everyone is desperately looking for another landing site, as the runway in Hakodate has been destroyed. Ayumi gives Conan the idea to try a pier.

Kid flies the plane to Muroran to make an emergency landing on Seiji Pier. Shortly before arrival, they discover that the plane cannot land because the pier is not illuminated. Kid then reveals himself and lets Ran and Sonoko take the helm before jumping off the plane. While Ran and Sonoko are in the cockpit, Conan adjusts his voice to encourage Ran in the cockpit. Meanwhile, Kid lures the cops who are chasing his doppelganger to the pier. Inspector Megure, who was in Sapporo on business , joins them by chance. The lights from the police cars illuminate the pier enough for the plane to land.

Ran, who recently confessed her love to Shin'ichi, realizes that the Kaitō Kid planned just that. She manages to land the machine on the runway that is far too short, crashing into a crane, but nobody is injured. When Conan wants to congratulate her, he finds both girls unconscious.

After the credits, Conan calls Ran again as Shin'ichi to ask how she is doing. She believes that the Kaitō Kid also faked the call on the plane and is sure that her confession of love never reached Shin'ichi.

reception

The manga scene rates the film as "weak" and one of the worst in the series. It is only mandatory for fans of the Kaito Kid. The film "has its good moments, but a little less action and more puzzling would definitely not have hurt".
