KK TMS Entertainment ( Japanese 株式会社 ト ム ス エ ン タ テ イ ン メ ン ト , Kabushiki-gaisha Tomusu Entateinmento , English TMS Entertainment Limited ) is a Japanese film production company, mainly for anime .

The company's predecessor was the animation studio KK Tōkyō Movie ( 株式会社 東京 ム ー ビ ー ) , founded in 1964 . In 1976 this outsourced the distribution as KK Tōkyō Movie Shinsha ( 株式会社 東京 ム ー ビ ー 新社 ), whereby shinsha means "new company". In 1993 the Tōkyō Movie was dissolved and Tōkyō Movie Shinsha succeeded her as legal successor. In 1995 it merged with Kyokuichi , a company originally founded as a fiber manufacturer in 1946, and renamed itself TMS Entertainment in 2000. In 2005 the company became a subsidiary of Sega Sammy Holdings .

In the more than 40 years of its existence, the Tokyo Movie Shinsha studio has produced a large number of different anime series, films and OVAs and also created the animations for foreign series, for example for DiC Entertainment , Warner Bros. Animation or Saban Entertainment .

While the company is currently officially under the name TMS Entertainment, the animation studio continues to be called Tōkyō Movie ( 東京 ム ー ビ ー , Tōkyō Mūbī ). There is also a subsidiary called Telecom Animation Film that TMS Entertainment often works with.
