DiC Entertainment was a film studio founded in 1971 by Jean Chalopin in Luxembourg as a sub-division of Radiotélévision Luxembourg (RTL) . The name DiC stands for Diffusion, Information et Communication . The company also had headquarters in the United States , which was founded in 1982 and was run by Andy Heyward and Robby London . The headquarters were in Burbank, California . DiC was an independent company. In the past, however, it has also been owned by the Walt Disney Company , Capitol Cities / ABC, and Bain Capital .
DiC was bought by the Canadian company Cookie Jar Group in 2008 and now operates under the name Cookie Jar Entertainment .
DiC Entertainment's best-known productions included Inspector Gadget , Sonic the Hedgehog and Hammerman , as well as the British localization of Sailor Moon .
