Jitsu wa Watashi wa ( Japanese. 実 は 私 は , eng. "In reality I am ..."), with the English sub-title I am ... , was a Japanese comedy manga by Eiji Masuda that was published between 2013 and 2017 . In 2015 it was adapted as an anime series.

action

Asahi Kuromine is a normal student who, however, has the problem of being like an open book to everyone and therefore cannot keep any secrets for himself. One afternoon he sees his classmate Yōko Shiragami spreading her wings and learns that she is a vampire. Since her wish to attend a human school was only permitted by her father on the condition that she may only do so as long as her true nature is not recognized, Asahi, who loves Yōko, makes the decision to hide this from others. In addition to his problem, this is made more difficult by Yōko himself, who is quite careless, as well as his childhood friend and member of the school newspaper Mikan Akemi, who is always on the lookout to reveal other people's secrets. In the further course he discovers that there are many more girls at his school with similar secrets, including an alien, a gender-changing "werewolf" and a demoness as director, who also do not contribute to keeping Yōko's secret under lock and key through their behavior.

characters

Asahi Kuromine ( 黒 峰 朝陽 , Kuromine Asahi )
Speaker: Natsuki Hanae
Asahi is the protagonist of the work. His problem is that he is like an open book to others, which is why his nickname at school is Anazaru ( ア ナ ザ ル , English: "holy basket"). After he discovers that he is surrounded by various fantastic beings, he gets from one absurd situation to another. He is in love with his classmate Yōko Shiragami but decides not to confess this to her for the time being, so that she doesn't get the false impression that the price for keeping her secret is that she is going to be his girlfriend.
Yōko Shiragami ( 白 神 葉子 , Shiragami Yōko )
Speaker: Yū Serizawa
Yōko is a half-vampire and attends Asahi's school because her two parents met there. At school, she has the reputation of the mysterious pupil, as she hardly interacts with others and speaks only briefly but very formally. On the one hand, this is just a disguise to prevent you from seeing her long vampire teeth while speaking, as she is actually quite affable and talkative with a broad Kansai dialect . Through contact with Asahi, she also becomes more open to others, but usually covers her mouth with her hand when talking. On the other hand, she sees herself as a cool beauty, although she is spirited, as well as easily impressive and readable. She doesn't notice Asahi's feelings for him and thinks he loves Nagisa. As a half-vampire, she only shares the weaknesses of vampires to a limited extent: she avoids the sun, but only because she tans very quickly from the UV radiation, until Asahi suggests that she simply use sunscreen; she finds the cross only irritating and garlic only irritates her eyes.
Mikan Akemi ( 朱 美 み か ん , Akemi Mikan )
Speaker: Reina Ueda
Mikan Akemi is Asahi's childhood friend and works for the school newspaper, which she has converted into a scandal newspaper. She loves to annoy others and, above all, to make their secrets public, which is why she is nicknamed Gedō Queen ( 外道 ク イ ー ン , Gedō Kuīn , dt: "Queen of the devils in human form"), which she finds extremely flattering. Their almost compulsive habit of always doing the opposite of what someone wants can, however, also be used against them. In fact, part of the cultivation of their bad name is just charade. On the one hand, she saved the school newspaper from collapse with her smear journalism, is careful to get the necessary approvals from those pictured and only uses completely fake photos that violate personal rights as little as possible. On the other hand, is very sociable when she is not wearing the toy glasses Asahi gave her as a child and part of her behavior stems from the fact that she likes Asahi and sees harassing him as the best way to be around him. Later, because of these feelings, her glasses become a tsukumogami , who calls herself an apprentice god of luck, and tends to divulge her secrets.
Nagisa Aizawa ( 藍 澤 渚 , Aizawa Nagisa )
Speaker: Inori Minase
Nagisa is the class representative for Asahi and Yōko. The most striking feature is a large hair ornament in the form of a screw. In reality, the real Nagisa is an extraterrestrial about 10 cm tall and the body is a robot, which she controls from within the command module disguised as a screw and which she has to charge regularly at the socket. Because of her serious and inflexible character, she is nicknamed Iron Lady ( ア イ ア ン レWegen , Aian Redi ), although she often loses her composure in embarrassing situations and hastily leaves her command module. As a soldier, she also often uses military terms and even looks at mundane matters from a military perspective. Nagisa was the first girl Asahi fell in love with, where she rejected him in order not to endanger her mission, later falls in love with him, but holds back because she knows that he in turn loves Yōko.
Shiho Shishido ( 紫 々 戸 獅 穂 , Shishido Shiho ) /Shirō Shishido ( 紫 々 戸 獅 狼 , Shishido Shirō )
Speaker: Aya Uchida
Shiho is Yōko's childhood friend and a half- werewolf , and when she sees the full moon - or photos of it - she transforms into a boy named Shirō and vice versa. Shiho has a very feminine body, is teasing, lewd and perverse, so sexually a predator and comes after her mother, who is described as a “charismatic pervert” ( カ リ ス マ 痴 女 , karisuma chijo ). Shirō, on the other hand, looks wild with sharp, predatory teeth, but has a serious personality. As the dominant personality, Shiho sees everything when Shirō is in control, but not the other way around. Shirō was commissioned by Yōko's father to see if Yōko kept to their agreement and to bring it back if necessary, while Shiho did not feel bound by it.
Akane Kōmoto ( 紅 本 茜 , Kōmoto Akane )
Speaker: Mao
Akane is the school principal and, according to her own statements, a 1000 year old demon, but has the body of a little girl. She is often at odds with Yōko, who does not believe that she is an adult, and it is also not very beneficial for Akane's position to display childish behavior and a great weakness for sweets. Akane can control, replicate, and transform asteroids into other people, always keeping their distinctive horns visible, and uses these skills to practice all kinds of jokes.
Asahi's and Yōko's class teacher Akari Kōmoto ( 紅 本 明 里 , Kōmoto Akari ) is their great-great-granddaughter and the only one Akane is afraid of, which does not stop her from playing nasty jokes on Akari. Akane was also formerly the class teacher of Yōko's parents.
Rin Kiryūin ( 黄龍 院 凜 , Kiryūin Rin )
Rin is a classmate, but in fact Asahi's granddaughter from a “ dystopian ” future 50 years later, in which a person known as the “charismatic pervert II” ( カ リ ス マ 痴 女 Ⅱ 世 , karisuma chijo nisei ), a majority of men submissive and women turned into perverts. She has traveled in the past to prevent this and is therefore armed with a sword with which she can button up provocative clothes. Rin is also rather bad at hiding her origins and treats the young Asahi like an old man.
Karen Shirogane ( 銀 華 恋 , Shirogane Karen )
Karen went to the same class as Yōko's parents and was an angel until Akane stole her halo and she became a fallen angel. Akane offered her to stay at the school as a student in order to look for it, so that she has been the chairman of the student council for more than 20 years, with Akane demonically "hiding" the halo in Karen's room as the fluorescent ring of her lamp. Having the idea that a fallen angel is like a demon, she often tries to act on it. However, her kind hearted nature gets in the way, because she just can't help but help others. Like Yōko, she tends to show her wings in surprise, loose feathers that come in contact with someone changing their personality according to one of the seven deadly sins .
