This pursues a female burglar trio, which steals objects of art and operates under the name Cat's Eye or in the German cat eye . Toshi, as the three sisters affectionately call him, has no idea that the burglar trio and the Kisugi sisters are one and the same person.

There is a love affair between Hitomi and Toshi, which is put to the test again and again, because Toshi actually loves Hitomi, but the cat alias Hitomi sometimes hunts more than official duties. In return, Hitomi regularly exploits her relationship with Toshi to get inside information for her next break- in.

Hitomi, Nami and Love show impressive acrobatic tricks on their raids and are characterized by agility and speed. However, they do not steal art objects indiscriminately, only those that their missing father Michael Heinz (a German ) made. Heinz was a great painter and sculptor who created many works of art, especially during the Second World War . a. also made reference to his wife (a Japanese woman ) and his daughters.

Cat's eye now aims to put her father's collection back together. With this they hope to get clues about the disappearance of their father. In doing this, they come into conflict with the police and other acquaintances of their father from the Nazi era , but are also supported by Mr. Nagaishi, a wealthy friend of their father's.

Characters

main characters

Hitomi Kisugi
Hitomi Kisugi (24) (来生 瞳Kisugi Hitomi ) is the main character and main actor cat's eye and is therefore usually at the forefront of break-ins. From her sweetheart Toshi she keeps getting information about how the current police investigations are going. Otherwise, she works in the Cat's Eye café opposite the police station.
Nami Kisugi
Nami Kisugi (27) (来生 泪Kisugi Rui ) is the eldest of the three sisters and the leader. She is a well-built, tall woman who knows how to use her feminine charms. This gives her information about where her father's other works of art are located and plans the next actions. She is also in contact with Mr. Nagaishi, her father's long-time friend, who regularly provides the cats with information and equipment. Nami also owns the Cat's Eye café.
Love Kisugi
Love Kisugi (16) (来生 愛Kisugi Ai ) is the youngest of the sisters and is still in high school. However, she is always actively involved in the thief tours, even if it's just the escape helicopter she flies. Love has a knack for electronics and often tinkers small, technical refinements for the cat's eye . From mini booby traps to remotely controllable, armed robots, she has everything up her sleeve.
Toshi Utsumi
Toshi Utsumi (23) (内海 俊 夫Utsumi Toshio ) is a detective at the Tokyo Robbery Department. His biggest goal is to finally catch a cat's eye and, after this success, ask for Hitomi's hand. So far, however, the cats have escaped him again and again. Toshi is a bit bumbling at times, but actually a good cop who can quickly hunt down normal crooks. But since he keeps telling Hitomi about the police's current deployment plans, Cat's Eye is always one step ahead of him.

Minor characters

Mitsuko Asaya
Sub-inspector Mitsuko Asaya (浅 谷 光子Asatani Mitsuko ) is Toshi's colleague. When it comes to fighting crime, she has a razor sharp mind, can judo and karate and is a very good marksman. Sub-inspector Asaya represents one of the main dangers for Cat's Eye , which they have always been able to beat.
The chief of police
The police chief is Toshi's and Mitsuko's superior and is of a choleric nature. He would also like to see Cat's Eye under lock and key, as the reputation of his department falls with every foray by the cats . He doesn't have much opinion of Toshi, yells at him regularly and often wants to suspend him from duty. He hopes Sub-Inspector Asaya will catch cat's eye as soon as possible .
Mr. Nagaishi
Mr. Nagaishi is a longtime friend of Michael Heinz, the missing father of Hitomi, Nami and Love. He regularly assists the sisters with information about the storage locations of their father's works of art or supplies them with the high-tech equipment they need. Anime

TMS Entertainment produced an anime television series based on the manga, which was broadcast in two seasons with 36 and 37 episodes respectively on the Japanese television station Nippon Television . The first season ran from July 1, 1983 to March 26, 1984 and the second from October 18, 1984 to July 8, 1985.

In the television series, the raids are in the foreground; one learns little about the past, and one does not find out whether the three sisters can actually collect their father's collection in full and see him again or receive any clues as to his fate. Hitomi and Toshi get engaged, but whether they will get married or how their relationship will continue and whether Toshi will ever find out that the three sisters are the wanted thieves remains uncertain. So overall the series ends pretty abruptly.

The German first broadcast of the television series began on November 13, 1995 on RTL II . All 73 episodes of the original series were dubbed and broadcast - some of them cut. The series was later also broadcast on Tele 5 and Junior . In addition to Japan and Germany , Ein Supertrio was also broadcast in France , Italy , Spain , China and the Philippines .
