Aishiteruze Baby ( Japanese 愛 し て る ぜ ベ イ ベ ★★ , translated “I love you, baby!”) Is a manga by the Japanese artist Yōko Maki . The work was as anime - TV series implemented.

action

The boy Kippei Katakura ( 片 倉 結 平 ) is swarmed by girls and loves to play and flirt with his charms. But that also causes him trouble at school and elsewhere. One day, however, his five-year-old cousin Yuzuyu Sakashita ( 坂 下 ゆ ず ゆ ) shows up at his house, whom he has to look after from now on. Her mother is completely overwhelmed with the upbringing after her father's accidental death, so she took the child to the relatives and disappeared without a trace.

At first a little reluctant, but soon captured by Yuyuzu's charm, he lovingly takes care of the little girl, takes her to kindergarten every morning, makes her lunch and the like. Over time, he becomes more and more responsible, which also impressed his classmate Kokoro Tokunaga ( 徳 永 心 ), who began to be interested in him.

However, because he takes too much time to raise Yuyuzu, they do not come together for a long time. Towards the end of the series, Yuyuzu's mother reappears, but asks for more time to recover from her husband's death and leaves Yuyuzu with Kippei until further notice. However, he has now come to terms with the situation quite well and still meets Kokoro.

Drawing style

The manga is drawn in the typical style of shōjo mangas. The panels are set very differently and a lot of work was done with grid foil. The backgrounds are neatly designed.

reception

According to the specialist magazine MangasZene , the Mangaka succeeds in depicting the characters in a differentiated manner. Maki also dares to tackle sensitive topics, so Miki, the rival, is also a suicidal runaway. Nevertheless, the work is very humorous. The character designs are soulful and everything is kept in the typical Shōjo style. The anime implementation was one of the Shōjo highlights of 2004. However, the characters in the anime are not as graphically successful as in the manga and the animation is overall simple. The Japanese voice actors conveyed their role credibly and the opening credits sunny side up fit the mood well.
