The Hakodate Airport ( Jap. 函館空港 , Hakodate Kuko ) is a regional airport in the Japanese city of Hakodate . It is located about eight kilometers east of the city of Hakodate. The airport Hakodate applies to the Japanese legislation as airport 2nd class .
history
Hakodate Airport opened in 1961. On September 6, 1976, the Soviet test pilot Viktor Belenko deserted to the West by landing at Hakodate Airport in a MiG-25 Foxbat.
Incidents
- On July 3, 1971, a NAMC YS-11 flew on Toa Domestic Airlines Flight 63 against Mount Yokotsu-dake before landing in Hakodate. All 68 occupants were killed in the accident.
