Detective Conan Short Stories ( Japanese 名 探 偵 コ ナ ン 特別 編 , Meitantei Konan: Tokubetsuhe , Eng. "Master Detective Conan: Special Chapter") is a manga series by the Japanese illustrator Gōshō Aoyama and his assistants that has been running since 1997 . They are mainly drawn by the assistants, but according to Gōshō Aoyama's instructions.

Publications

The Detective Conan Short Stories were first published in Japan in 1997 as a collection of short stories related to the successful Detective Conan series. In contrast to the original manga, the short stories were not drawn by Gōshō Aoyama himself, but by his assistants. Accordingly, the drawing style also stands out clearly from the template. So far (March 2015) 39 volumes have been published in Japan. While new volumes used to appear at regular intervals, the rate of new volumes has been falling in recent years. The last volume 40 was published in December 2015.

In Germany , the short stories appeared for the first time with the first issue of the Manga magazine Manga Twister by the German publisher Egmont Manga (EMA). As of May 17, 2005, the stories were given a separate series in anthologies due to their enormous success. The volumes appeared every other month, alternating with the original series. After 18 volumes, the publication was temporarily discontinued by Egmont Manga.

action

The basics of the plot of the short stories and the original stories are the same. The high school detective Shin'ichi Kudō was also shrunk to child size in them, but the plot only begins after the events of the second volume. Shin'ichi gave himself the code name Conan Edogawa and quartered himself in the detective office of the father of his school friend Ran Mōri.

The plot does not go into the events of the original, but rather consists of short stories, each with a case that needs to be clarified. The individual stories are not particularly related to one another. Most cases consist of two chapters.

Kaito Kid also appears in the more recent volumes of the Short Stories series that have not yet been published in Germany . In addition, there are two cases of members of the Men in Black who cannot be seen in the original series and have not yet been included in this series.

Anime

Most cases of Detective Conan Short Stories are ignored in the anime version of the series Detective Conan. However, it rarely happens that episodes of the detective Conan anime are based on templates from the Short Stories series. Among other things, this is the case with the episodes with the German titles “Wettlauf gegen die Zeit” and “A watertight alibi”.
