Manga twister

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Manga Twister was a German manga magazine by Egmont Manga and Anime (EMA), which was initially published monthly from October 2003 to October 2006 and later every two months.

The concept of the magazine was to appeal to both teenage girls and boys. Therefore, the magazine was divided into a shōnen - and a shōjo part, which were put together in opposite directions. In the middle of the magazine there were letters to the editor and short articles about Japan and manga. The reader could simply turn the magazine around ("twist") and then read the other part. Manga Twister was created in collaboration with the Japanese Shogakukan publishing house: the Shogakukan magazine Shōnen Sunday was the model for the Shōnen part and the Shōjo Comic for the Shōjo part .

All of the magazine's manga series were also summarized in paperback form after their publication as sequel chapters.

After it was founded in October 2003, the magazine was initially published monthly at a price of 5 euros and with a length of 480 pages. With issue 20 in May 2005, the price of the Manga Twister was raised to 6.50 euros. Due to the falling number of readers and rising production costs, the frequency of issue 24 was changed to bimonthly in September 2005, and some series were decoupled from the magazine. After the official announcement of the end of the project in August 2006, EMA discontinued the Manga Twister in October 2006 after issue 30.

Another manga magazine from EMA, Manga Power , was first published from 1996 to 1997 and then in a second attempt from 2002 to September 2004, but both times had to be discontinued due to falling sales.
