occupation

The Big Pain is a television film from the crime series Tatort . The first broadcast took place on January 1st, 2016 in the first and was commissioned by the NDR . It is the third case of the investigative duo Nick Tschiller and Yalcin Gümer , played by Til Schweiger and Fahri Yardım .

action

Nick Tschiller and his colleague Yalcin Gümer continue to fight a criminal Hamburg clan that the clan chief Firat Astan is leading out of custody. That's why Tschiller sent his daughter Lenny to boarding school for security reasons. The Senator for the Interior would like to get rid of Astan from Hamburg and therefore he is to be transferred to the Landshut correctional facility . Astan puts the Russian contract killer Leyla on Tschiller and has Lenny and her mother Isabella, Tschiller's ex-wife, kidnapped. He uses it to blackmail Tschiller to free him from the shunt bus. Shortly before the transfer, Astan kills his brother in prison, having promised him not to leave him alone in his (paralyzed) condition.

However, Gümer has found out that Tschiller is being blackmailed and manages to locate Lenny and Isabella, who are in Leyla's control on a ship in the port of Hamburg, but who have since attempted to escape themselves. Tschiller frees Astan from the shunt bus and brings him to the ship to exchange Astan for his wives. He fixes Astan to the railing with handcuffs and kills Leyla's accomplices. Leyla herself is caught and fatally hit by Gümer. Astan, who can break free, fires at Tschiller and Gümer, but also at Isabella and Lenny. Isabella is seriously hit and Tschiller knocks down Astan, who crashes into the hold of the ship. Tschiller immediately takes Isabella to the hospital, where she dies, however.

Astan is overlooked on the freighter when it is searched by the police. He escapes and Tschiller swears vengeance.

background

The film was shot in Hamburg from September 19, 2014 to December 1, 2014. As a backdrop, u. a. the Port of Hamburg with the Elbphilharmonie there and the Köhlbrand Bridge .

Originally, it was supposed to be broadcast four days after the premiere in Hamburg, which took place on November 18, 2015, on November 22, 2015 on Erste . Due to the terrorist attacks on November 13, 2015 in Paris , the first broadcast was postponed to January 1, 2016.

The plot of the episode is continued in the episode Purgatory , which celebrated its television premiere as the second part of the double episode just two days after the first broadcast of the episode The Great Pain . These two episodes are only the third double episode in the TV series after Kinderland / Ihr Kinderlein kommet ( MDR / WDR ) by investigators Ballauf and Schenk / Saalfeld and Keppler from April 2012 and Wegwerfmädchen / Das goldene Band (NDR) by investigator Charlotte Lindholm from December 2012 With the "horizontal narrative" unusual for the crime scene, in which individual storylines extend over more than one episode, the episode is based on the cases of the Dortmund investigators Faber, Bönisch, Dalay and Kossik as well as the Berlin colleagues Rubin and Karow der Tatort TV series .

The Hamburg musician Sascha Reimann could be won as a performer for the episode, who already appeared in the TV series Tatort in 2012 in the episode Wedding Night .

Helene Fischer is subsequently russian speaking to hear. Although she was originally from Siberia, she still does not speak the language, but stated that she wanted to learn Russian. Her appearance was inspired by Roland Kaiser from the episode Summ, Summ, Summ , which gave investigators Thiel and Boerne the highest ratings for a Tatort episode from Münster and thus the rating record set recently for the first episode with Til Schweiger called Willkommen outperformed in Hamburg . As a result, Schweiger expressed interest in working together on a crime scene production with Helene Fischer at the end of 2013. However, according to her own statement, she would not have wanted to take on a role that would have resembled her life as a musician, so that she finally embodied the figure of the "brown-haired Leyla in Lara Croft outfit" .

Stefanie Stappenbeck admitted that she did not know Helene Fischer before filming. In preparation for filming, she familiarized herself with Fischer's hit music. Stappenbeck and Fischer only got to know each other on set.

The role of the politician Constantin Revenbrook, played by Arnd Klawitter , is modeled on Ronald Schill and, according to the scriptwriter Christoph Darnstädt, should "quote the distinctive and disgusting Hamburg local color as a Schill blend" .

The director's cut of the film, published on DVD or Blu-ray, is one minute and eight seconds longer than the TV version with four extended scenes and one additional scene.

Reviews

Detlef Hartlap , chief editor of prisma , judged that the episodes of the double episode "are action strips that primarily serve as a steep pass for DVD sales that start in early February" . He was critical of the interchangeability of the script: “What is shown is a gloomy fantasy copied from a thousand similar films. The language pretends to be underworld. "

For Christian Schmidt from Westfälische Nachrichten , the episode is "only partially convincing" . "The beginning of the story [...] was rapid - as one would expect from a silent» crime scene «," judged Schmidt. Even viewers who had not seen the two previous cases by investigator Tschillers were able to "quickly find their way into the action" . However, because Schmidt “did not relieve Schweiger of the great pain that gave him the title after the kidnapping of his family” , “the episode was not entirely convincing” , which did not detract from the plot, because “the focus was on the action anyway” .

“The plausibility factor: Goes towards zero. It's okay if you want to let it rip again. But the fact that Commissioner Tschiller then has to deal with the old relationship problems with the ex with wet eyes before he mows down the kidnappers of his daughter is a great strain on credibility. "
