occupation

Kinderland is the 834th episode in the crime series Tatort , which was first broadcast on April 8, 2012 on ARD . The film produced for MDR is the first part of a two-part series in the series. The second part, produced by WDR , Ihr Kinderlein kommet , was broadcast one day later (Easter Monday). In the two-parter, the investigators from Leipzig and Cologne work together again, as in the Tatort episodes, Quartet in Leipzig and the return leg . The film by Thomas Jauch is the 13th case of the Leipzig investigative team Eva Saalfeld and Andreas Keppler and the 53rd case of the Cologne investigators Max Ballauf and Freddy Schenk .

action

15-year-old Anna Römer is reported missing in Leipzig. A little later, a dead girl is found near the children's stroke. But it is not about the missing person, but about the homeless teenager Lisa Noack. The investigators Saalfeld and Keppler ask around the street children and come across the head of an aid organization called Kinderland eV , Gerd Tremmel, whose son ran away from home four years ago. During further investigations it turns out that Tremmel's wife Claudia, a doctor, treated Lisa free of charge before her death and that she was pregnant by her son Paul.

At the same time, another body of a 15-year-old girl was recovered from the Rhine in Cologne. The first clues show a connection to Leipzig, because the young girl, Sarah Stellwag, had been apprehended there several times for prostitution . The Cologne inspectors Ballauf and Schenk set off, but without registering with their colleagues in Leipzig, which foreseeably leads to complications.

Anna, who was reported missing, is ultimately found terrified in the apartment of the initially fugitive Olaf Dürer, which leads to further investigations, with indications of a case of child abduction dating back to the past.

background

Behrendt (Ballauf), Thomalla (Saalfeld), Wuttke (Keppler) and Bär (Schenk) during the shooting in Cologne at the obligatory snack bar

The double episode Kinderland / Ihr Kinderlein kommet was the first crossover within the Tatort universe that included more than one episode.

The shooting of Ihr Kinderlein kommet took place from July 21 to October 20, 2011 in Leipzig. During the shooting there was an accident on the first day of shooting in which Martin Wuttke injured himself while jumping. Two tendons were torn, so he had to pause for four days.

reception

Audience rating

The first broadcast of Kinderland on April 8, 2012 was seen by 7.68 million viewers in Germany and achieved a market share of 22.9% for Das Erste ; In the group of 14 to 49 year old viewers , 2.22 million viewers and a market share of 17.2% were achieved.

criticism

Christian Sieben wrote in the Rheinische Post : “The cooperation between the two investigative teams was [...] quite as expected. At first there was surprisingly a dispute about competencies, then everyone pulled together and got on really well. The fact that this storyline never really picked up speed is perhaps due to the fact that both teams of investigators are very similar. "

In the online edition of the Lübecker Nachrichten it was said: “Once again it wasn't particularly exciting. So much was wrong with Tremmel, the street child carer, that from the 'Tatort' viewer's perspective it was pretty obvious to suspect him to be the culprit, and Olaf, the snooper, was so obviously greasy and unsympathetic that he was eliminated as the perpetrator. "

“The first part, 'Kinderland' from the MDR, is cool and exciting. [...] It wins: Keppler, that is Wuttke, who looks incredibly casual even with a bloodied nose. "
