A television film from the crime series Tatort is under pressure . The contribution produced by WDR was broadcast on January 9, 2011 in the first program of ARD . It is the 49th case of the investigative team Max Ballauf and Freddy Schenk and the 787th crime scene episode.

action

The management consultant Carsten Moll is found dead in the reception hall of the "Kölner Abendblatt". Apparently he was thrown over a railing from a great height. The company plans to expand, which it wants to achieve with the help of another publisher. To this end, consultants have been hired to carry out effectiveness calculations for this strategy, which will inevitably lead to layoffs. Accordingly, the popularity of Carsten Moll and his boss Rita Landmann was not very high.

The chief inspectors Ballauf and Schenk first question the shift supervisor Manfred Peters, who admits that he had an argument with Moll. Since he was constantly questioning his work schedule, he had been expelled from the production rooms last night. Ever since the company was planning a merger and there was talk of downsizing, there has been great fear of layoffs in the workforce. The investigators quickly find out that there was no unanimous opinion on the decision to hire consultants even in the management. The managing director Lars Fraude had brought the management consultants into the house, which was not fully approved by the publishing director Ludwig Brinkmann and the personnel manager Raimund Kahn.

Checking the call statistics in Moll's cell phone leads to the employee Elli Klein, who admits she has fallen in love with Moll and is suspected by the staff of just trying to save her job. Her ex-boyfriend, Ulf Haas, would not have wanted to give her up without a fight. Before Ballauf and Schenk can look for the young man who also works at the publishing house, shift supervisor Manfred Peters is found hanged in the publishing house. Ballauf knows that Peters had reproached himself for having to propose the discharge candidates to the personnel manager. However, Schenk cannot find a suicide note and Peters is not the type of suicide for him. This intensifies the search for Ulf Haas, as he is also a candidate for dismissal. He can be arrested but denies having murdered anyone.

The investigators learn from the personnel manager that Peters was also recently on the discharge list and that he had got his hands on the current version. So there is no doubt about his suicide.

Due to the massive rejection and bullying attempts of the staff of the publishing house, the consultants stop their work there. Managing director Fraude is of the opinion that he can no longer guarantee people's safety. Schenk finds caricatures from the victim in the consultants' trash. That puts the investigators on the trail of the perpetrator. Obviously Moll's analysis showed that the managing director Lars Fraude of all people is relatively incompetent in his function. In order not to let that get out into the open, he eliminated Moll. Confronted with the facts, Fraude loses her temper and takes a hostage. Schenk succeeds in a targeted shot in his leg, he is arrested and initially given medical attention.

Publishing director Brinkmann frozen the merger negotiations on Landmann's advice. After Fraude's departure, he made her the new managing director.

criticism

Rainer Tittelbach from tittelbach.tv appreciates: “Diverse, highly telegenic locations, a perfect (type) cast and a lot of night work, which is good for the look, outshine the solid Whodunit. The quality of the script lies in a different area: the incidental illumination of the Stasi methods in modern turbo-capitalism, the surveillance motif, the chauffeur who looks very closely and chats from his practice, or the tragic closing punch - resulting from these many small, drinkable details a rather 'American' crime thriller that harmonizes exceptionally well with its commissioners. They are simply not made for deeply rooting soul drama. "

At Stern.de, Sophie Albers says: "The details are really fun on the way to the somewhat convoluted resolution: the fine drawing of the characters."

The critics of the television magazine TV Spielfilm judge: "Striking, malicious, but to the point."

Trivia

In the Tatort episode Borowski and the Free Fall , commissioner candidate Sarah Brandt ( Sibel Kekilli ) opens a suitcase containing an edition of the "Kölner Abendblatt" with a report on the death of Uwe Barschel .
