action

Stefan Müller, a former figure skating professional , is found dead in the Cologne ice rink after his training. He was knocked down and then put on ice, where he froze to death. Ballauf and Schenk question the caretaker Mahlzahn. They learn from him that very few people had a key to the hall. The two commissioners then go to the dead man's widow and son. The woman last saw her husband the evening before. She tells them that her husband used to be a professional figure skater and now u. a. act as a judge chairman. The son, who is currently doing his community service, was in the disco at the time of the crime, the widow was visiting her brother-in-law. Ballauf and Schenk find that the dead man has a lot of photos and videos of young female figure skating talents in his study. From the son of the dead they learn that the videos show the daughter of the dead, who died in an accident seven years ago.

You take the videos to the station and let Franziska view them. Then they take another look around the ice rink and meet Lily, one of his students, who can be seen particularly often on the videos. She states that she is particularly good, the relationship with the dead was purely professional in nature. Ballauf and Schenk watch how Peter Müller, the dead man's son, is very familiar with Lily. When asked about this, he states that he has known Lily for many years because she was the girlfriend of his dead sister Nina. In the dead man's locker, the two inspectors find his wallet and in it a note on which an appointment is noted.

Forensic medicine confirms the death by freezing, the blow was not immediately fatal. In addition, strange hair was found on the dead man's clothes. The officers look for Ilona Hinze, the mother of a figure skater, because she met him on the evening of his death. Ilona Hinze states that she wanted to confront Müller because he clearly preferred Lily as the judge at the last championship. She suspects a sexual relationship between Lily and the dead man. At the time of the crime, both claim to have been at home. Lily denies having a relationship with her trainer when asked by the inspectors.

Franziska finds out that Müller was broke; nevertheless he sent money to his brother every month. Martin Müller states that the money was for a fund for the figure skating girls. He also added 500 euros. Since Martin Müller had taken over his parents' print shop alone, he had to pay off his brother. He regularly transferred the money to the fund, just as the dead man had wanted. He also confirms his sister-in-law's alibi.

The trainer Ilya Knjashinskij, who now trains Lily alone, testifies that the dead man was a bit old-fashioned in his training methods and suggests that there was sometimes tension between the two. Lily confirms that she got money from the fund, Jeanette, however, had the funding been canceled. Ballauf and Schenk therefore suspect Ilona Hinze. This had a motive because the dead wanted to push her daughter out of the club. The investigators drive to Müller's widow, where her brother-in-law is once again a guest. It is obvious that the two have a relationship with each other.

The hair on Stefan Müller's clothes comes from a close male blood relative, so Ballauf and Schenk seek out Martin Müller. He admits to having a relationship with his sister-in-law and also that he is on the verge of bankruptcy. He states that Lily was with him and that he has promised her financial support. According to laboratory findings, however, the hair on the deceased's clothes came from his son Peter, whom they then visit in the facility where he is doing his community service. He says that his father abused Lily and Jeanette for his ambition, especially Lily let herself be instrumentalized. In truth, he was only looking for a replacement for his dead daughter Nina. The relationship with his father had been strained because he had reproached him. Peter could have saved his sister in his father's opinion.

Schenk receives a call from Lilly in the middle of the night, she wants to talk to the inspectors about the dead person, but does not reveal where she is. Ballauf and Schenk drive to her home, where the inspectors find an information sheet about abortion in Lilly's room. The suspicion of pregnancy is confirmed when the office hours of a gynecologist who has Lily had an abortion reported to the presidium . She had read the missing person report and then wanted to report. She claims that Stefan Müller accompanied her during the abortion.

Meanwhile, Lily's body is found, the back of her head fell on a step in a park. Monika Wandhoven is dismayed by the death of her daughter, she reveals to the commissioners that she and Stefan Müller have been a couple for four years. He was the father Lily had always wanted. Forensic medicine finds out that Lily had large amounts of doping agent in her blood. A search of the trainer Ilya Knjashinskij reveals that he has dealt with such means. He states that the girls wanted the drugs. Stefan Müller had found out and threatened that he would report him if he did not leave voluntarily. Knjashinsky is arrested and claims that he was with a prostitute at the time of the crime. The alibi turns out to be correct.

Based on an audio file on Lily's laptop, in which she sings together with a young man, they recognize Peter's voice and deduce that he and Lily were a couple. Obviously, Peter was also the child's father. The commissioners suspect that he could not forgive his father for encouraging Lily to have an abortion. That's why he killed him. He must also have got into an argument with Lily because she wanted to talk to the investigators. A quarrel broke out between them, in which she fell unhappily. Ballauf and Schenk look for Peter and finally find him completely hypothermic on the ice, at the point where his father was found frozen to death. The commissioners call an ambulance - it is unclear whether Peter Müller will get through.

criticism

Tilmann P. Gangloff from tittelbach.tv appreciates: “Aladag's direction is calm and focused, the camera only moves as much as necessary. Chases, shots, violence: none. He can afford it because the script by Stephan Brüggenthies and Patrick Gurris confronts the two investigators with a milieu that was previously completely alien to them: the world of figure skating. The story works with the usual prejudices, but embeds them so skilfully in the plot that they hardly seem clichéd. "

The critics of the television magazine TV Spielfilm think: "Here you get good grades for compulsory and freestyle."
