Merle Wasmuth

Merle Wasmuth (born January 21, 1988 in Manado , Indonesia ) is a German actress and speaker.

Life

Merle Wasmuth grew up in Indonesia and came to Germany with her family when she was 8 years old. As a 14-year-old high school student, she completed an internship at the Comedia Theater in Cologne , which aroused her interest in acting. After Wasmuth had made a guest appearance at the Schauspiel Köln from 2004 to 2007 , she attended the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna from 2007 to 2011 and worked as an apprentice at the Burgtheater there from 2009 to 2011 . From 2013 to 2019 she was a permanent member of the Theater Dortmund . Wasmuth played in Cologne a. a. the Hedwig in Ibsen's Wild Duck , for their presentation she was nominated in 2005 for the young actress of the year by the magazine Theater pur received. In another Ibsen piece she played in An Enemy the Petra Stockmann. At the Burgtheater she played in Quai West von Koltès , directed by Andrea Breth . In addition, she worked with Luc Bondy and Matthias Hartmann , with the latter also at the Salzburg Festival . At the Reichenau Festival she was seen in the title role in Arthur Schnitzler's Fräulein Else . In Dortmund Wasmuth played among other productions in The Rat Race by Michael Frayn and Happy Days by Samuel Beckett . In the process of Franz Kafka , she took all female roles. She was also seen as Barbara Fortham in Eine Familie (director: Sascha Hawemann ) and in all productions by Kay Voges , including in Psychosis 4.48 by Sarah Kane and Das goldene Zeitalter .

One of Merle Wasmuth's first jobs in front of the camera was a role in the Cologne crime scene Frozen in 2005 . You could also see them as guests at SOKO Cologne or the Pfefferkörnern . In 2014 she stood in front of the camera for the Dortmund crime scene " Weightless ". Since 2016 she has been working with the director Jan Bonny again and again . Among others in “Rheingold”, “Wintermärchen” and in the four-part web series “The Horror”, a production of the Bildundtonfabrik . In 2018 she shot for the new film " All My Loving " by Edward Berger , which premiered in 2019 at the Berlinale "Panorama" . In 2014, Merle Wasmuth took part in the radio play Auricula - Earwig of Horror , produced by Westdeutscher Rundfunk , directed by Leonhard Koppelmann . Since 2017 she has been speaking more and more for the time signal and the deadline of the WDR and is repeatedly represented in features and radio plays. In 2019 she will be represented again at the Berlin Theatertreffen with the production “Das Internat” (director: Ersan Mondtag ).

Wasmuth lives in Cologne.
