Ersan Mondtag , actually Ersan Aygün (* 1987 in Berlin ), is a theater director and works between the fields of theater and music, performance and installation.

Life

Mondtag sat in with Thomas Langhoff , Frank Castorf and Claus Peymann and assisted Vegard Vinge before he went to the Otto Falckenberg School in Munich in 2011 . He dropped out after two years.

After the discontinued studies, Mondtag founded the Kapitæl Zwei Kolektif. This collective conceived permanent performances, experimental forms of party and interdisciplinary theater works. For the exhibition site of the Pinakothek der Moderne , he and Olga Bach realized Konkordia , a nine-day permanent performance.

In the 2013/14 season, Mondtag was a member of the director's studio at Schauspiel Frankfurt , where he staged the 2nd symphony (2014 at the Radikal Jung Festival), Das Schloss und Orpheus # (2015 at the Radikal Jung Festival in Munich).

In 2015 his play TYRANNIS was created at the Staatstheater Kassel , with which Mondtag was invited to the Berlin Theatertreffen 2016. Further guest performances, including again at the Radikal Jung Festival, followed.

The specialist magazine Theater Heute selected Mondtag as the next generation director of the year 2016. He was also honored in the categories of “Set Designer and Costume Designer of the Year”.

On February 9, 2018, Das Internat was premiered at Theater Dortmund , for whose production Mondtag was awarded the 3sat Prize 2019. The project was invited to the Theatertreffen in Berlin that same year.

Mondtag lives in Berlin. He stages a. a. at the Thalia Theater Hamburg , the Schauspiel Frankfurt , the Schauspiel Köln , the Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin and the Münchner Kammerspiele .
