Vegard Vinge

Vegard Vinge (* 1971 ) is a Norwegian theater director and actor . In the artist collective with Ida Müller he has been directing at the Volksbühne Berlin since 2008 . He caused a sensation with modern, unconventional performances of pieces by his compatriot Henrik Ibsen .

Life

Vegard Vinge studied directing at the Berlin University of the Arts from 2004 to 2008 . There he met the German set designer Ida Müller.

Her staging of the drama John Gabriel Borkman by Henrik Ibsen at the Volksbühne lasted up to 12 hours and reaped a. Criticism because Vegard Vinge repeatedly urinated in his own mouth. The play was invited to the Theatertreffen in 2012 as a contribution by the Volksbühne .

controversy

In May 2013, the fourth part of Vinges Ibsen saga, "The 12-Spartenhaus", premiered in the Volksbühne's Prater. In the following performances, Vinge pelted the audience with feces and sprayed the Prater's stage manager with a fire extinguisher. The stage manager was then on sick leave. Vinge then received a written complaint from Artistic Director Frank Castorf threatening criminal prosecution. Vegard Vinge responded by reading the letter aloud at another performance and also smearing it with feces. Nevertheless, the Volksbühne initially wanted to resume the play after the summer break in autumn 2013. Since then, however, the piece has not appeared on the repertoire.
