The Moosbahn was completed in 1919 when the Mittlere-Isar-Kanal was being built. It connected to the Munich tram at Kufsteiner Platz , ran from 1919 to 1929 to Finsing, where the Neufinsing power plant was built, transported up to 1,000 construction workers per day and transported a total of 11.3 million cubic meters of earth and 33,000 cubic meters of concrete. Light railway tracks were also laid on the canal bottom. The standard-gauge industrial railway laid out during the construction of the canal was used to transport larger machine parts and was connected to the Markt Schwaben – Erding railway line .
