Eugeniusz Rudnik

Eugeniusz Rudnik (born October 28, 1932 in Nadkole am Liwiec ; † October 24, 2016 ) was a Polish experimental composer , representative of acousmatics and sound engineer .

life and work

In 1967 Rudnik graduated from the Faculty of Electronics of the Warsaw University of Technology . He has been working for Polskie Radio since 1955 . At first he coordinated the work of craftsmen, from 1957 he became a technician in the newly established experimental studio Studio Eksperymentalne Polskiego Radia . The autodidact Eugeniusz Rudnik made musical experiences in the studio for electronic music of Westdeutscher Rundfunk in Cologne, where he worked with Włodzimierz Kotoński , Karlheinz Stockhausen and Petr Kotík . He later met Franco Evangelisti , Arne Nordheim , François-Bernard Mâche , Kåre Kolberg and Bohdan Mazurek .

Rudnik created the genre of documentary radio ballads. Peregrynacje Pana Podchorążego albo nadwiślańskie żarna / The change of the ensign or the millstones on the Vistula from 1999 was honored as radio play of the month January in 2002. Eugeniusz Rudnik does not use a computer and works with tape and scissors, records sounds, cuts and assembles manually. Eugeniusz Rudnik is a pioneer of electroacoustic music in Poland.

The composition Homo Ludens was presented at documenta 8 in Kassel in 1987 . His works have been played by numerous radio stations and at festivals: Warsaw Autumn , Musica Polonica Nova in Wrocław, ISCM World Music Days in Finland, Muzički Biennale Zagreb , Fylkingen in Stockholm, Berliner Festspiele , Festival d'automne à Paris , Phonurgia Nova in Arles and many other.
