Rabenherz is a television film from the crime series Tatort . It is the 42nd case of the Cologne team of investigators Max Ballauf and Freddy Schenk and the 719th crime scene episode. The report produced by Westdeutscher Rundfunk and Colonia Media was broadcast for the first time on January 25, 2009 on Das Erste .

Dr. Hermann Johns, the chief physician of the maternity ward, lies dead in his office in the clinic. The forensic scientist finds that Dr. John's been killed by a deadly substance in tea. The agent has a delaying effect and is used in all hospitals during operations. Investigators find an operating theater that is apparently missing an ampoule, but since all nurses theoretically had access to it, it is impossible to tell who took it away. Ballauf and Schenk have their rosters given to see who was there during the night. Special incidents were three deaths of young mothers who recently died shortly after a caesarean section, so that an act of revenge by affected family members is possible. All employees who were on duty during the night are questioned, but all of them worked and saw nothing. Everyone is positive about Johns, he even went to India for a few weeks every year to help there. However, according to the hospital psychologist August Neumann, the nursing staff are permanently physically and mentally overloaded.
Since Ballauf and Schenk got stuck with the interviews, Schenk allowed himself to be placed in the hospital as an intern. He wants to look around and hopes to find a lead. He notices Maria Everbeck, one of the nurses who seems depressed. She visibly takes a mental interest in her patients to be cared for, which means that she can no longer sleep and at times lives in an unreal world. Schenk watches as she sacrifices her precious time with one of the terminally ill patients, sits down next to him and lays her hand on him. Due to her psychological problems and an earlier suicide attempt, she is looked after by the hospital psychologist Neumann. He asks her about Dr. Johns, because he has noticed that he has been on duty non-stop for the last few weekends and asks if she might have something to do with it. He likes her and wants to help her, also knows that she used to be with Dr. Andreas Tschichold had a relationship.
Schenk approaches Maria Everbeck and she trusts him, but cannot give him a reason why someone could have killed Johns. She admits that she simply cannot go away when patients want to speak to her. She also believes that there are patients who feel better when they are touched by her. Some would even get well. When Schenk asked her to hang up on him too, he was amazed by the result. The next day he talks to her colleague Steffens about it and she says that Maria is getting into something. He shouldn't talk about it any further, because it is already difficult enough for her because the others have to work out the time she is “wasting away”.
Ballauf notices that something is wrong with Neumann's statements. He wants to look at the rosters for the past few weeks, but they can't be found on the computer. The technician determines that there is no system error, but that someone has manipulated the duty roster. But he can fix it and see that Dr. John's duty, but Dr. Tschichold. Ballauf and Schenk then speak to Tschichold. He claims to know about Maria's talent and that he had an affair with her. She got pregnant, had an abortion, and then tried to kill herself. It turns out that Johns was accidentally killed because the tea was actually intended for Tschichold. Maria had not been able to get over the hurt, especially since Tschichold left it in her blood after she had cut her wrists. She was only saved by Karin Steffens. Since Neumann suspected that Maria might have something to do with the murder, he had made the duty roster disappear as a precaution to take away any suspicions from her.
