occupation

Dicker than Wasser is a television film from the crime series Tatort . The report produced by Colonia Media for WDR was broadcast on April 19, 2015 on Das Erste . In this 944th crime scene sequence, the Cologne chief inspectors Ballauf and Schenk determine their 63rd case.

action

Laura Albertz finds her friend Oliver Mohren dead in front of his trendy bar "Sax Club" at night. When asked by Max Ballauf and Freddy Schenk, Laura quickly becomes entangled in contradictions. She openly admits that she is still in contact with her ex-boyfriend, Erik Trimborn, so investigators suspect a relationship act. According to Laura's statements, she would still love Erik and have only left him because his father was a tyrant and she saw no future for both of them under these conditions.

Erik Trimborn is questioned by the commissioners. He claims to have been friends with Oliver Mohren. The friendship suffered from the fact that he had taken his girlfriend from him, but that would not kill him. While Ballauf and Schenk are still questioning Erik, they get to know his father Ralf. He wants to give his son an alibi for the night and joins the conversation without being asked. Schenk researches him and finds out that Ralf Trimborn was only recently released from prison, where he had served nine years for manslaughter . Laura tells Schenk to question Elisabeth Förg. She was Erik's grandmother and could tell them a lot about his father. Ballauf and Schenk drive to her and she reports that Ralf Trimborn hit her daughter and she is sure that he drowned her in the bathtub, which was then presented as an accident. Since Ralf Trimborn had a skilled lawyer, there was never a charge and all procedural documents were deleted for data protection reasons. Schenk speaks to public prosecutor Heuwagen, who was working on the case at the time, and he is still convinced that Trimborn could not be proven guilty. A friend had given very convincing testimony for him at the time, so there was insufficient evidence to bring charges. This witness was Jürgen Mohren, the victim's father, who has been living in Tenerife for several years . He is currently in Cologne, however, as he returned to Germany after the death of his son and wants to take care of the estate and the pub.

Ralf Trimborn is planning a robbery and wants his son to stand by him as the second man. When the latter refuses, he makes it clear to him by force that blood is thicker than water and that he has no other choice. It is also clear to Schenk that Trimborn is the key to their fall. After the research, his house is up for foreclosure and he therefore urgently needs money, which he will have to get hold of shortly. This justifies surveillance and the investigators try to tap his cell phone calls. In this way they can find out that Jürgen Mohren owes Trimborn money and they suspect that Trimborn threatened the old debts because of Mohren's son and that he died in an argument about it. Unexpectedly, Jürgen Mohren reports to the station. Trimborn had recently visited him and made him understand that he wanted his money back. Now Mohren is afraid of his former friend. He explains to Ballauf that Ralf Trimborn is a "monster". The incident with his wife was not an accident, it was on purpose. Trimborn had involved him in his wife's life insurance, which is why he made the false statement at the time.

Jürgen Mohrens fear was justified. In the evening Ralf Trimborn ambushes him and shoots him in cold blood. When the police find the body, the investigators realize that Trimborn actually won't stop at anything. You force surveillance and can prevent the attack. Ralf Trimborn is killed in the process.

reception

criticism

“But there is nothing explosive about the new case. […] Commissioner Schenk […] and colleague Ballauf […] are sent on the usual suspect hopping by screenwriter Norbert Ehry and director Kaspar Heidelbach. The plot is clumsy, the narrative rhythm is more bumbum than jazz, almost all of the characters appear constructed. [...] Only one is beaming: Armin Rohde, the rocker avenger from 2001 , is the bone -breaking father here again. "

“This crime scene begins so traditionally, you could have thought over the steel mesh melody again. […] 'Show, don't tell', say the Americans, that is their recipe for a good story. But here the story is always told, told, car door open, car door closed, [...] So it goes on, the dimensions of the questionnaire are actually astonishing [...] "
