The bull and the Beast is a German action - comedy series, which, since January 2019 the TV stations Sat.1 and Sat.1 emotions is broadcast. It is about the detective superintendent Elias Decker and the bullmastiff Rocky , who solve murder cases together for the Berlin homicide squad .
On March 29, 2019, Sat.1 announced that the series would be discontinued after only one season.

The series is about the interaction between detective inspectors Elias Decker and the dog Rocky and their police work. Together with Detective Superintendent Caro Belzig they clarify murder cases for the Berlin Murder Commission .
During a mission by Decker and Belzig, they became aware of Rocky because he was carrying a drug package. After Rocky's attack on Decker, he was supposed to be put to sleep. However, Decker discovered that Rocky is helpful in solving the crimes and is therefore later trained as a police dog.

Rocky is the eponymous "Beast" of the series and belongs to the British Bullmastiff dog breed . After a chase by the detective chief Elias Decker , he is taken into custody because drug packages were attached to him and he was conspicuous as an aggressive dog. Therefore, an euthanasia should take place in the veterinary office . However, Decker discovered that Rocky was useful in a police investigation, particularly in bringing down fugitive suspects. That's why Rocky is trained to be a police dog in the course of the series . Since then he has lived with Inspector Elias Decker. Its distinctive feature is heavy drooling.
The role of Rocky is played by a trained film dog. The dog of the same name is two and a half years old.
Elias Decker
Detective Inspector Elias Decker is the eponymous "cop" of the series and is a member of the Berlin homicide squad . He is a somewhat chaotic, stubborn and stubborn person who likes to go it alone and prefer open-ended suspicions. His investigative partner is the detective, Caro Belzig . Miriam "Mimi" Decker (* 1989; allegedly died in 2017) is the sister of Elias Decker and daughter of Angela Decker. She was also Nassim Husseini's friend . Production and broadcast
In mid-April 2018 it was announced that production preparations for the new series The Bull and the Beast were in progress. It comes from the production company Bantry Bay Productions and is produced with the participation of TV producer Gerda Müller. Müller was already responsible for the successful television series The Last Bull , Weinberg and Club of the Red Ribbons .
In mid-August 2018 it was announced that Jens Atzorn will play the leading role Elias Decker . Other roles that have been announced are played by Franziska Wulf as Decker's colleague and Nora Huetz as Decker's neighbor.
The announced scriptwriters include Felix Binder , Malte Welding and Thomas Sieben and the director Hanno Olderdissen . The film was shot from August 2018 to January 2019 in Berlin .
The ten episodes have been broadcast on Sat.1 on Mondays at 8:15 p.m. since January 7, 2019 . She serves as lead-in for the third season of the German crime series Einstein . Since January 13, 2019, the series has been broadcast for the first time on Sundays on Sat.1 emotions .
