Mohammad-Ali Behboudi (born August 23, 1956 in Zanjan , Iran ) is an Iranian actor and director.

Life

The age of 16, he founded the independent theater group "Kaweh", the subjects of the Persian neorealism and with a friend epic theater of Bertolt Brecht staged. He received his artistic training from 1981 to 1983 in the traditional theater school "Anahita" in the capital Tehran. Due to political pressure, he emigrated to Germany in 1984.

On April 22, 1991, he passed the stage maturity examination before the joint examination commission in Mönchengladbach-Rheydt and in 1993 founded the independent “Welt-Theater” in Cologne, which he still directs today. From 1998 to 2002 he took a course in "Culture Management" at the Fern-Universität Hagen. From February 1995 to July 2012 he was a permanent member of the Oberhausen City Theater ensemble .

Various engagements lead him to Stuttgart , Hamburg , Zurich , Wuppertal and Bonn . Through his numerous contacts at home and abroad, he took part in various theater festivals around the world, for example in Brazil , Burkina Faso and in his native Iran . Outside of the theater he was also seen in TV and cinema productions, for example in Tatort , Lindenstrasse , Solo for Sudmann or Ein todicheres Ding . Behboudi was politically committed to the Greens , for which he ran in the state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2012 in the Oberhausen I state electoral district .

Awards

His production "Lederfresse" won first prize at "Theatrend". Because of his activities in the context of the “world theater” and cross-border artistic activities, he was awarded the Oberhausen Theater Prize and at the “Theaterzwang” festival in 1998 with the Prize of the Art and Culture Foundation of North Rhine-Westphalia and the NRW Culture Secretariat.
