action

Rolf Köster has been working as a cashier in a small bank branch for years. Every day goes by like the day before. He has a thirteen-year-old daughter who prefers to write a diary than to speak and a six-year-old son who has to wear a bicycle helmet because his head is constantly running against walls. His wife organizes all of family life, and Rolf stays in the background. But he doubts whether he, who has "everything", is really happy. Rolf surprisingly gets a week's vacation. He decides not to tell his family about this and to go out of the house as usual. Rolf Köster begins a double life.

Together with the lively taxi driver Sophie he begins to explore his surroundings. On this voyage of discovery, he gets to know his environment and people anew. As luck would have it, he discovered his wife in a supermarket. Köster has lived with her for years, but lately he has not known her or her life anymore. Now another man is waiting for her in front of the shop. The "vacation from life" opens Köster's eyes and makes it clear to him that he is actually no longer alive. At the end of this week, Rolf Köster will return to real life and has regained his curiosity.
